The Harvest Moon is the traditional name given to the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox, typically in September. For centuries, it has held special significance for farmers and agricultural communities, as its bright light extended working hours into the evening, allowing crops to be gathered well after sunset during the busiest harvest season of the year.
