Dr. Albert “Doc” Jones, founder of the National Association of Black Scuba Divers, dedicated his life to uncovering lost histories beneath the ocean. When his team found the Henrietta Marie, the first recovered slave ship, he set out to honor those lost at sea. This film celebrates his mission to recover forgotten stories and preserve them for future generations.
Matt Kay is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker based in London, celebrated for his powerful, character-driven documentaries that spotlight untold stories and inspire global audiences. His diverse body of work spans compelling subjects—from the world’s first Black scuba diver to a death row inmate. In recent years, Matt has expanded his impact with high-profile projects, including TLC Forever, a feature documenting the journey of America’s most successful female music group. It premiered on A&E to millions of viewers and is now streaming on Netflix. He has also spent two years closely filming with Lewis Hamilton for an upcoming Apple feature and directed an hour-long National Geographic special starring Marvel’s Anthony Mackie, which debuted in July 2024 as the network’s most-watched program of the month and is streaming globally on Disney+.
With a passion for creating socially impactful narratives, Matt continues to produce films that resonate with audiences and drive meaningful change. Matt’s films have screened at over 50 major festivals, won numerous awards, and garnered millions of views worldwide.
